My name is Jill Valenti and I love to help people get organized! I am the founder and owner of Advanced Organizing Solutions. I have over 20 years of organizing experience and have been organizing in the Boulder/Denver area for the last 8 years. I grew up in a chronically disorganized home and instead of learning the behavior, I went the other way. I had experienced the stress and shame and waste of time that clutter brought to our home. I had a great deal of empathy for my mom, that she just couldn't get on top of it. However; it is not impossible to change, and my mother is currently working with a professional organizer in Wisconsin and is getting control of the clutter.

I too have had periods of trouble with clutter. In my mid 20's I lived in a house where I didn't have an office, only a desk and one file drawer in a corner. I didn't have enough room for an adequate filing system and so things piled up on my desk. Every time we had someone over, I would put all of it in a box and take it downstairs to the basement. Over 6 years in that house I had built up a lot of boxes of clutter. When I moved to another home where I did have an office, it was time to get organized. I was surprised to find that I was overwherled by the task and not able to just get started on it. I thought about how I needed to attend to it every day, it caused me a lot of stress. After several weeks of this I called in an organizer. Of course I knew how to get organized by myself, the problem was that I just couldn't get it done alone. Sometimes we all need a little help. We worked side by side for four hours and got through all the boxes. I was actually shocked at how much of it could be thrown away!
